It’s no surprise that the videogame developer Harmonix has announced a heavily influence EDM experience after all the hype around Marshmello’s virtual set via the popular online game Fortnite.
The electronic artist played for an audience of 10 million people through the Epic Game’s program and made history with the first ever real-time virtual-concert. Gaming soundtracks have been revered as niche tastemakers since Tony Hawk and Grand Theft Auto made its’ debut.
In 2019, virtual reality and music will intertwine with Harmonix’s latest gaming experience. Known for their previous rock’n’roll oriented games, like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, Harmonix will shift its’ focus to the intergalactic world EDM with Audica.
The game will be a first-person shooter game where the objective is to reach the highest score by keeping up with the rhythm of the game’s soundtrack; which shouldn’t be too hard considering tracks from Alison Wonderland and Afrojack have already been confirmed as part of the official soundtrack. The forthcoming tracks may not evoke the same nostalgia as past gaming soundtracks have, but it will most likely solidify their standing as current favorites.
