Chicago-based rapper Smino will be taking his newly released debut album blkswn to Bottom Lounge on Wednesday, April 26! Tickets to the hometown show are available now via Clubtix.com.

Smino’s 18-track album, released on March 14, has been described as an “opus,” garnering top scores on Hot New Hip Hop and elsewhere. Its tracks are stacked to the brim with a credited blend of friends and collaboraters, including Chicago locals Monte Booker and Ravyn Lenae, each of whom performed on the lakeside beach during last year’s Mamby on the Beach festival. Other contributors include Bari, theMIND, Jay2, Via Rosa, Akenya and Drea Smith.

After growing up playing the drums in his church band in St. Louis, Missouri, Smino founded a rap group “Young Dumb and Outta Control” with a friend, eventually leading to a solo mixtape release. He now occupies an important piece of musical collective Zero Fatigue, which also includes Ravyn Lenae, Monte Booker and Jay2. With guest appearances on work from the likes of Noname and Mick Jenkins, Smino’s blossoming presence in the community grows stronger by the day.

blkswn shares the digits of its release date with Smino’s own area code, coming as a conscious nod to his Missouri hometown. Stream the LP in full below!
