September 9, 2016 — The FiveThirtyEight Elections Podcast team takes over the Athenaeum Theatre on October 7, 2016. Join Nate Silver, Clare Malone, Harry Enten, and Jody Avirgan for an evening of political analysis and obscure diet soda.

In the spirit of the original site founder Nate Silver, FiveThirtyEight has made it its mission to cover diverse areas across the social spectrum. Conversations of sports, politics, economics, science and life consistently make their way into the team’s weekly podcast session, allowing speakers from different backgrounds and perspectives to weigh in on the issues most important to the American people.

After a short California tour and spring stop in Washington D.C., the team now brings their acclaimed live podcast series to Chicago, where four of the show’s most regular speakers will engage in hearty debate in anticipation of the approaching November election.

Nate Silver, founder of FiveThirtyEight and leading statistician, became one of Time‘s 100 Most Influential People in 2008 after correctly guessing the outcome of 49 out of 50 states during the year’s presidential election. The following election, he accurately guessed the winner of all 50 states and teh District of Columbia. His book, The Signal and the Noise, reach The New York Times’ bestseller list and was named by Amazon.com as the No. 1 best nonfiction book of 2012. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago in 2000, and is welcomed back to the city with open arms for an evening of enlightening discussion. Jody Avirgan hosts FiveThirtyEight’s weekly politics podcast, coming as a follow-up to his position as a producer and reporter at NPR in New York. Over the course of his wide career, he’s worked with popular news outlets Freakonomics, On The Media, Radiolab and others. He currently hosts the comedy and storytelling program Ask Roulette, as well as several live shows and other events in and around New York City.

Clare Malone is FiveThirtyEight’s senior political writer, having had her work published in such bodies as The New York Times, Harper’s, VICE and Elle. Previously, she worked as a member of The New Yorker‘s editorial staff.

Harry Enten is FiveThirtyEight’s senior political analyst, and spreads his writing talents across many different fields of study, including meteorology. Before joining the FiveThirtyEight team, he wrote for The Guardian and contributed statistical work to support New York Magazine’s 100 Most Valuable Stars List in 2012.
